WHAT: The Orange County Transportation Authority will highlight a new limited- stop bus service that will launch Monday, Feb. 11. The new Bravo! Route 529 will give commuters the option to skip extra stops on the popular route along Beach Boulevard, between Fullerton and Huntington Beach.

Media is invited to attend this event to join the community in kicking off this new service that will give riders an opportunity to make it to their destination more quickly. A Bravo! bus will be at the event for photo opportunities and a short ride on the new service will be offered.

WHEN: 11 a.m. to noon, Thursday, Feb. 7
WHERE: Golden West College, 15744 Goldenwest St. Huntington Beach, CA 92647
WHO: Scheduled speakers include:
  • OCTA Chairman Tim Shaw, also a La Habra Councilman
  • OCTA Director Andrew Do, also the First District Supervisor
  • OCTA Director Gregory T. Winterbottom
  • Golden West College President Tim McGrath
  • OCTA CEO Darrell E. Johnson

WHY: The launch of the new bus service is part of OC Bus 360°, a strategy to better meet the needs of Orange County bus riders and enhance ridership.

This is the third Bravo! limited-stop route OCTA has launched since 2013.

The new Bravo! Route 529 will run between the Fullerton Park-and-Ride, near the intersection of the I-5 and SR-91 freeways, making stops by popular destinations such as Knott’s Berry Farm, to the Golden West Transportation Center, across from Golden West College in Huntington Beach.

Compared to the normal Route 29 along Beach Boulevard, the Bravo! route gives commuters an average travel time savings of 10 minutes. The new route makes fewer stops – 13 stops compared to the typical 34 stops – and connects with 12 other major bus routes along the way.
