The new Wave fare payment system guarantees you the best fare, meaning you pay as you go without needing to prepay for discounts.

Once you reach a daily cap ($4.50 for regular riders), or a monthly cap ($69) the rest of your rides are free. All existing fare structures remain unchanged, including Regular fares, Senior and Disabled fares, Youth Ride Free (18 and under), and the College Pass Program.

How Will Fare Capping Save You Money?

This interactive chart shows how your rides will be automatically tracked so you stop getting charged when using the Wave card or Wave mobile. Monthly capping resets on the first day of each month. Go ahead and give it a click!

In the example above, after Ride 3, the daily fare cap of $4.50 has been reached. Ride 4 and all remaining rides of the day are free! By comparison, without a day pass today, the first four rides would cost $8.00.

Everyone rides differently. In the example above, the rider reached the Best Fare Guarantee by the 18th day of the month. On days 1 through 17 they reached the daily fare cap of $4.50. On day 18 they only needed to pay $1.50 on their first ride and they reached the monthly cap of $69.00. All remaining rides for the balance of the month are free! By comparison with today, without a monthly pass a rider could spend up to $135 a month.
