The Orange County Transportation Authority (OCTA) Youth Ride Free Program has been extended. A new pass is required along with a new parental request form. Using the new pass, Orange County youth ages 6 to 18 can ride all OC Bus fixed-route service for free for travel to school, work or fun.
Youth Free Ride passes are available from your child’s participating Orange County school. This Youth Ride Free pass will be valid until September 30, 2023.
This free pass for youth ages to 6 to 18 will allow them to get to all their important destinations on our safe, clean reliable buses.
To ensure the greatest number of youth benefit from free access to public transportation for school, work and leisure, OCTA continues to partner with K-12 schools and parents to deliver the Youth Ride Free program. Passes will be available with a parental request form available from schools. See sections below for more information.

Economic Recovery
The Youth Ride Free Pass supports the economic recovery of Orange County and helps mitigate the financial impacts from the COVID-19 pandemic on low income and diverse populations by allowing youth from all over Orange County to equitably re-engage with all Orange County has to offer.
Grant Funds Offer Many Benefits
The program is grant-funded by the California Department of Transportation and the California Air Resources Board through California Climate Investments which help reduce greenhouse gas emissions, strengthen the economy, and improve public health and the environment.
